The first weddings of the year are always some of my most favorites. After a long, dark winter we get to go back to doing what we love, photographing people during one of the most important days of their lives. Our wedding season started a bit later this year but Sadie and Zach’s beautiful wedding was the best way to kick it off. They were married at the Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens in Fishers, IN on a warm May afternoon. The Ambassador House is a gem of a wedding venue with gorgeous rooms for getting ready, an almost empty downstairs area for cocktail hour or small receptions, and the most beautiful gardens for a perfect outdoor wedding ceremony. While Sadie and her bridesmaids were getting ready a heavy downpour started and everyone was worried it might ruin a planned outdoor ceremony. Instead the clouds became gray instead of black and chairs were dried off just on time. After a sweet ceremony we gathered all the guests for a photo on the front porch and went to the neighboring field to take portraits (and dodge prom goers also taking portraits on the grounds). Their reception started off with their first dance where Zach twirled Sadie around much to her surprise and everyone’s delight. The rain made a second appearance during the reception so instead of sunset portraits we had a little fun with off camera flash instead. If all the rest of our 2015 weddings are this happy, this lovely, this sweet then we are in for an amazing year.
