Historic Ambassador House Wedding – Sadie and Zach

The first weddings of the year are always some of my most favorites. After a long, dark winter we get to go back to doing what we love, photographing people during one of the most important days of their lives. Our wedding season started a bit later this year but Sadie and Zach’s beautiful wedding was the best way to kick it off. They were married at the Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens in Fishers, IN on a warm May afternoon. The Ambassador House is a gem of a wedding venue with gorgeous rooms for getting ready, an almost empty downstairs area for cocktail hour or small receptions, and the most beautiful gardens for a perfect outdoor wedding ceremony. While Sadie and her bridesmaids were getting ready a heavy downpour started and everyone was worried it might ruin a planned outdoor ceremony. Instead the clouds became gray instead of black and chairs were dried off just on time. After a sweet ceremony we gathered all the guests for a photo on the front porch and went to the neighboring field to take portraits (and dodge prom goers also taking portraits on the grounds). Their reception started off with their first dance where Zach twirled Sadie around much to her surprise and everyone’s delight. The rain made a second appearance during the reception so instead of sunset portraits we had a little fun with off camera flash instead. If all the rest of our 2015 weddings are this happy, this lovely, this sweet then we are in for an amazing year.

McGrawsville Indiana Wedding – Sarah and Stephan

This wedding had a special kind of magic. The kind where it’s mid December and yet the weather decides to be a balmy 50 degrees. The kind where hundreds of tame deer stroll around during the portrait session. The kind where everyone is wholly present yet transported by two people and their beginning. Sarah and Stephan were married at McGrawsville United Methodist Church which sits almost by itself in the middle of nowhere Indiana. The church was decorated for Christmas with twinkle lights and trees in the sanctuary. Sarah looked stunning in her Melissa Sweet dress with her girls beside her all in creams and rose tones. The guys were a blast for Shane to work with and kept us laughing all day. After their ceremony we headed to Bellar’s Place Lodge, a deer farm near Peru, Indiana, where Sarah and Stephan stepped in the doors and right into their first dance. The food at this wedding was amazing, Hawg Heaven catered some of the best bbq of the year and Dreams to Reality Cakes made two gorgeous (and delicious!) cakes. The warm atmosphere and sweetest people at this wedding made it an incredible day, we are so thankful for such a perfect way to end an amazing year.

Rural Indiana Wedding – Carrie and Brice

Carrie and Brice started the day with a first look at on the grounds at Purdue University. The air was cool but spirits were high and the trees were still showing their fall colors. Brice’s face when he saw Carrie cracked me up and melted my heart, these two are meant for each other. We tromped around the grounds of the Purdue Mall, luckily the fountain was off, and found little pockets of perfect light. Afterwards we headed to Independence (aka middle of nowhere Indiana) to the sweet little church where Carrie’s parents were married. After their ceremony guests chatted and ate dinner at the church and then went across the street to Carrie’s uncles yard for their yearly bon fire. Carrie and Brice, thank you so much for opening your hearts to us and letting us spend the sweetest November day with you.
