Brown County Wedding – Tori and Steve

We’ve been heading down south quite a bit this year and Tori and Steve’s day was a perfect Brown County day. They held their wedding on a friend’s property next to the gorgeous Lake Lemon. The ground was a little muddy and the air muggy from the previous day’s storm but it was nothing a little plywood and happy dispositions couldn’t fix. And happy dispositions were abound. After getting ready the pair shared the sweetest first look and we shot their couple’s portraits around the heavy greenery surrounding the property. Guests began to arrive and they exchanged vows under a big shade tree and we headed off to the reception. Their reception decor was AMAZING, probably one of my most favorites. Tori and her mom did all the flowers themselves and I even have one of the succulent favors sitting on my kitchen sink! I haven’t killed it yet! After cutting their cake and their first dance everyone enjoyed an incredible hog roast dinner before we headed out to catch the last light of day for a few more portraits. After speeches and parent dances the dance floor opened up and we wrapped up our day while the music was going strong and the dancing probably lasted all night. I can’t say enough about these two and their perfect day. The warmest, sweetest pair ever and we spent this whole day loving every second.

Thomas Hunt Morgan House Wedding – Chelsey and Chris

When Chelsey had first contacted us about shooting her and Chris’s wedding it was to be in Indiana where Chelsey’s family lives but as time went along they decided why not do it in their beautiful home town of Lexington, Kentucky? We happily came along for the ride and spent the day in the beautiful downtown district at their wedding located in the Thomas Hunt Morgan House. The threat of rain loomed all morning while everyone got ready but luckily held off until after we finished portraits in the stunning garden next to the historic home and the thunder clouds rolled in just as guests were seated and the ceremony was set to begin. After a sweet ceremony complete with a hand fasting ceremony guests were treated to dinner in the incredibly gorgeous rooms. After dinner, cake, and speeches the dancing began and the crowd was so rowdy and fun that the floor shook and buckled and we were sure we were all about to fall through to the basement. The night ended with a few portraits in the rain before the pair were sent off with cheers and glow sticks. This wedding was so lovely and laid back and everyone was sweet as pie, the perfect way to spend a warm September day.

P.S. Chelsey and Chris hired the best wedding planner we’ve ever worked with, Doug Smith Designs and I honestly can’t say enough good things about Doug! If you’re in Lexington and getting married HIRE HIM!

Ritz Charles Wedding – Erin and Justin

Erin and Justin’s beautiful wedding was a joy to shoot from start to finish. I say this a lot but this wedding was HOT. Like, the kind of heat that makes you sleepy and just want to lay in a kiddie pool with a hose running on you. That didn’t stop this pair from being incredibly sweet and their wedding guests having an amazing time. Our day started with the girls getting their hair and makeup done before heading to the Ritz Charles  to finish getting ready. Once arriving Shane headed off to hang out with the guys and can I just say that Justin is a pro groom? He taught everyone how to fold their pocket squares, pin their boutonnieres, and even bustled Erin’s dress after the ceremony! After everyone was ready and portraits wrapped up guests began to arrive and Erin and Justin said their “I do’s” amongst family and friends. After their ceremony the crowd moved to the beautiful garden pavillion behind the chapel while we squeezed in a few sweet portraits. Their reception started with dinner, cake, and speeches, and we took a little break from the heat for some photos as the sun dipped down and headed back to start their first dance. A wild dance floor followed fueled by their band ended with their bouquet and garter tosses. Their sparkler exit ended the night and the guests sang the star spangled banner as they ran down the rows of happy faces. Indianapolis wedding photographerRomantic Indiana photographer
