Indianapolis Arts Garden Wedding – Kelly and Rishi

Where to even begin with this one!

Kelly and Rishi’s wedding was a weekend full of so much crazy fun and the nicest bunch of people, so so so good!

We arrived at Rishi’s parents home Saturday evening to cover the mendhi party. While the ladies got intricate mendhi tattoos guests hung out and ate incredible food before some wild dancing and tumeric paste being rubbed on Rishi’s face by family and friends. Such a fun way to get the weekend kicked off!

The next morning we arrived at the Hyatt Regency as Kelly and her bridesmaids prepared for the Hindu ceremony. After the saris were tied and jewelry carefully placed we headed to the Indianapolis Arts Garden for their first look before the ceremony. We shot a few portraits around the downtown area before Rishi and the guests headed to Monument Circle for the barat. The circle was shut down from traffic as the guests partied their way to the Arts Garden with Rishi and his sister bringing up the rear in a horse drawn carriage. After arriving back at the Arts Garden entrance the couple made their way to the mandap for their beautiful ceremony. While their Hindu ceremony was a shortened version it still held all the important rituals and the pair had the sweetest looks on their faces whenever they caught each other’s eye.

After the Hindu ceremony we shot a few more portraits in the Arts Garden before Kelly rushed off to change into her wedding dress and head back to the Arts Garden for their Christian ceremony. After their I do’s and first kiss we headed out around downtown Indianapolis for portraits and even climbed up the Indianapolis War Memorial to get a shot of Kelly and Rishi with their first apartment together in the background.

We headed back to the Hyatt Regency for their reception once we had finished portraits. After their entrance, speeches were made and dinner was served. After  an amazing dinner the couple cut their cake and shared their first dance and dances with their parents before the dance floor opened. Hindu weddings always have the best dance floors and this one was no exception, everyone was out there all night busting their best moves.

We can’t even begin to express how honored and lucky we are to be able to be involved in days like this one! Kelly and Rishi are gems and their day is one we will be sure to remember for a long, long time.
